looks no different then the chinese one's except with a lense and a cover on the bottom, i am still all for the maxspect's , the g2 170w version would be perfect for a tank that size, especially if you add the lense and reflector kit, had the same light but my tank is 3x2x22" and i just didnt have enough coverage on the width, for a 18" wide tank would be a great fixture

I saw the Orphek fixture on a tank at a recent show in Southern California. The light intensity seemed a bit dim compared to most other LED fixtures at the show, and the light spread seemed very narrow. Otherwise the fixture seemed pretty slick.

The fixtures at the show that most impressed me were the Aqua Illumination Sol Blue and the Acan Lighting. The Maxspect looked interesting, but they did not have one lit over a tank to determine the spread...and some people have been saying that the LED's need to be swapped out every two years. Not sure what is up with that...but I've read that you can order the Maxspect fixture with Cree LED's instead.

Also, Making a DIY fixture is reasonably easy by purchasing a kit at rapidled.com.

Anybody have this?

Considering a move to LED's on a mixed reef setup (58g 18x21x36). Anybody use this?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I have always believed you get what you pay for.

I would never skimp on lights, skimmer or rock. Without them, the reef just isn't the same.

Buy once, save later, IMO

Getting what you pay for sure who can argue with that!

But that wasn't the point of my post, the point was that its such an extreme price per foot that most people cant afford it(myself included) $625-675 a foot ive been quoted for the better model and 400 something for the lower model.
Which model are you using ?
