Ok so I went for it and got myself a x-mas present, I got the profilux add on 4 pump doser... So now before I get it Im looking for reccomendations on how to dose the 2 part esv alk and cal. I use part 1 (alk) now 34mls per day and part 2 (cal) 32mls per day. The third pump will be for mag 2 times a week at 20 mls each time.
So any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Just would like to know what the formula might be to hold the alk around 10 or a little lower is fine and the cal around 400 to 450. The doses I use every day (all in one dose) keep it around 9.8 and 400 for the most part of the day so I would lilke to keep it that way with the doser but dose though out the day..

Congrats on your new X-mas gift!!
32 & 34 ml's perday.... what size tank. Does your dosing pump dose small enough quantities. You may have to do it manually. Hope I'm wrong.

I'll look for the dosing calulator and post the link for you to adjust.

My tank is a76 gal half circle tank. It can dose vas little as 1ml each time so that means 2 mls each hour for 10 hours and then 1 mls per hour the last 14 hours. But I want to know if that will hold the alk around 9.6 to 10.? If I have to do it manualy then you will see it on here for sale in a few days after I get it... But I dont think that will be the case...lol But what Im thinking it will be let it dose for half the day and then test, dose for the other half and test again and see where that formula puts the alk and cal...

Quoting directly from Dr Farley's article
"The balance between these two additives is very important, and the recipe is designed for aquarists to dose equal portions of the two parts every time they dose. An aquarium using such a balanced additive system is unlikely to undergo large short-term swings in calcium and alkalinity"
I would only dose in equal portions, in your case I'd start at the low end 32ml/day

But I want to know if that will hold the alk around 9.6 to 10.?
Maintaining your alkalinity ALL depends on the demand of the animals in your tank. The reef is not a dynamic system, as it begins to grow the demands will change and become greater, hence you will have to increase the dosing quantity.

...lol But what Im thinking it will be let it dose for half the day and then test, dose for the other half and test again and see where that formula puts the alk and cal...

I would dose the lower 32ml/hr for one day, then test the next day. If it stays in the normal range Ca 420-480 Alk 8-10 I'd leave it alone. It higher, stop the dosing until it drops, then start the dosing at a lower quantity. Dont do radical changes, take your time.

I have the same doser on my 120 and when I had it filled with coral it had no problem maintaining alk/cal/mag at all!

Well I found a way to set 3 timers (each one can be set for 8 diffrent doses) for one pump which gives me the 24 doses. So now Im up to last I checked 64 mls part 1 (alk) and 72 mls of part 2 (cal) and 20 mls 2 times a week with mag. My alk is holding around 9.4 to 9.6 but the cal is still low 380 so I bumped it up to the 72 mls a day so I will be testing tonight and in the morning cause I do want it at 450.
Yeah Im liking the doser... The hardest part of it was the firmware cause no one tells you that you have to update the software first and then install the firmware. I had lots of problems with that until some good guys on the profilux forum helped me out with it. Now everything is working fine..
