I have my 150 reef and my little 8 gallon acro tank and an assortment of other fresh/brackish tanks strewn all over the house and I am feeling the itch to try something new. I want to convert my 240 fresh water monster tank into an eel/banded shark tank. It is currently running with a 50 gallon refuge and 2 FX5 filters. I know about adding the skimmer/UV/powerheads... etc... But I am not sure of a good ratio of live sand and live rock to use? I want alot of swimming room in the main tank and am considering packing the refuge with live rock and bio balls and putting sand with some larger pieces of rock in the main tank to create hiding spaces for the eels. The question becomes how much of each?
Any insight would be appreciated especially from those that have had dedicated eel tanks.
