Very informative yet so sad. My question is can we humans change the fate of the coral reefs? Even if we change our ways of life, can we stop the climate change and ocean acidification? I don't think so. Thanks for sharing Randy

All the more reason for those of us in the reef hobby to practice the best husbandry we can and to support places like GARF and Mote Marine where they are struggling to create a genetic bank of corals. Throw in the research on "trading" the symbiotic algea's between species of coral, (theoretically replacing a more sensitive variety with a hardy variety) and we can throw "Snorkel Bob's" statements of how hobbiest's are destroying Hawaii's reefs right back at him with the promise that we, as a group, will maintain species in a safe environment so that when the time comes, they can be returned to their natural habitat through fragging and hopefully, captive spawning that is successful.
