What is the difference between a "Shoal" of fish and a "School" of fish?
It seems that most people call it a "school" as that is what most of us grew up with. But i always notice more professional articles calling it a "shoal."

or he meant shul (where we blow the shofar - again, not the guy that drives the car  )

i already checked dictionary.com - there must be some difference though when one would be used over the other.

heres what i heard from other reefers

when fishes school... its a defensive mechanism where they try to frighten larger fishes from attackin them...

when fishes from a shoal... they group up not for the defensive purpose

also schools usually have like a bully system and shoals don't

thats what i've read from RC when i was trying to figure out why my chromises don't school no more, don't know how accurate it is
