OK, just received my 1 1/2" sea swirls that i will be using on my 84x24x30 rr tank, looking for opinions on best place to set the sea swirls, on the back glass or the side glass? i have 2 corner flows in each corner of the tank. i figured since its such a long tank placing them on each of the side glass would probably work better then on the back glass? anyone with opinions especially sea swirl users thanks again!

I use 4 1" sea swirls on the back of my 10' tank equally spaced out. I beleive I read somewhere regarding the 1 1/2 inch that sea-swirl recomended putting them on opposite corner. Call sea-swirl and talk to the creators. Very nice people to deal with. My best advise is to play with the placement in your tank.

So I got my 1 1/2" sea swirls in the mail and I put them together and placed them on the side walls right in front of the cornerflo's and I gotta say I like how they look in that spot because they are almost camouflaged with the cornerflo's I just hope the can push that water across the tank strong enough???

Well I'll be using 2 reeflo hammerheads which seems super powerful but the will be pumping from the basement from the sump to the tank on the first floor

IMO, that may be too much flow...I ran a basement sump for 5 years, using an Iwaki 100 RLT for a 450g system...your system is what? 300-350g? 2 Hammerheads is probably way too much flow for the sump, no time to filter, more like a Open 'closed' Loop!....plumb in 1 pump, keep the other for backup!

Too much? As long as it's that and not enough. I was told to run both in sequence by reeflo themselves by giving them my specs actually I forgot to mention I'll be using all 4 holes in the cornerflo's as drains and the sea swirls will be the return

HAMMERHEAD
Flow Chart:

Foot Head/ GPH:
4' / 5550
8' / 5050
12' / 4350
16' / 3600

20' / 2400
23' / Shut off

Not sure what they figured your 'foot head' would be, or what the flow rate for 2 in sequence is ...but...can your sump handle approx. 3-4000gph? ...I'll stick by my original post...

You helped answer your own question. You have roughly 3000 gph after head going thru you return to a 260 gallon tank. Its actually(gallons of water) less than that when you minus out the rock. You have plenty of return flow for this tank. You dont need two hammerheads. I would even consider a hammerhead gold which is more efficient and has a little less flow which is insignificant in your case.
