By adding all kinds of sponges and pads all you're doing is adding back space for nitrate collection. Why remove bio balls which collect nitrates and then add new places for nitrates to collect? One filter sock is cool of you clean it often but a sponge, pads etc.? What I would do is place the Quiet One pump in a taller Tupperware container with no lid on it. Use a container that's maybe one inch lower then sump water level. This is like adding four baffles which force the micro bubbles to climb four walls and disappear before hitting the pump. It'll work better then sponges, pads, and nitrate factories. It's just my opinion. You've added a LOT of maintainance time by adding all the pads and sponges which will have to be cleaned/replaced often.

waytonocars,

Thank you for the advice. What I think I will do, is get a really tall tupperwear lik you advised for my quietone. Then when the sponge that goes where the microbubblesa re forming arrives from amazon, I will take out the two new sponge pads I put in there. And then I will have one filter sock and one sponge (and just have to clean those two). I agree that the others are unecessary once I make those alterations. I wish I could jsut have a nice sump with baffles lol
