Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you for the nearly limitless information you guys have compiled on this site, I've been using MR for a few months now for research / suggestions etc, but never posted before.
Anyway, heres my pathetic tank statistics (compared to all you guys :Yikes
Before I say some of this stuff, I want to say I realize theres a few things that dont make sense. When I started into the Saltwater fish keeping world, I wasn't nearly as educated as I am now (thanks mostly to you guys). I lived in a small town upstate and my only option for a LFS was not exactly a marine biologist.
30 Gallon Glass Tank
Coral rubble substrate (wish I had gone with sand now)
about 20 pounds of LR
Equipment
Rena Filstar XP1 Canister Filter
Koralia 2, 600GPH Powerhead
36" ZooMed ReefSun 50/50 combination of 6500k trichromatic daylight phosphor and actinic 420 phosphor bulb
Residents :bablefish
False Percula Clown
Firefish
Orchiard Dottyback - (I realize only now that the dottyback and firefish should not have been mixed, luckily I havent had any issues at all with them and both are happily swimming around the entire tank)
Sebae Anemone
Sand Sifting Sea Star
Red Sea Star
And of course, A small army of snails and bristleworms
I am also currently housing a friends Hippo Tang, its still very small and im only keeping it for a few more weeks while his tank cycles
As a christmas gift to myself im looking for a larger setup that would be able to house a reef system, im absolutely fascinated by corals and I can't wait to get even deeper into this addiction.
I look forward to talking to you guys more as I continue my learning process, thanks for taking the time to read this
