7.9 isnt horrible. Just dont let it get any lower than that. Your ph can swing a few tenths. Different things make it increase and decrease, the lighting cycle, also when your fish expell more CO2 are 2 factors. Itll be higher after the end of your lighting cycle(later in the day) and when the lighting cycle is ready to come on the next day is when itll be at its lowest. .3 of a swing isnt too bad.

Try to put your fuge light on an opposite schedule than your display that way itll hopefully help you have less of a swing, since their will be a light source on somewhere in the system.

If everything checks out, you may want to consider using kalwasser for topoff. It has really done the trick for me with raising my ph, which use to ride between 7.8 and 8.1. Now I range between 8.2 and 8.49 +/-. The added benefit of it binding phosphate in my tank is a welcomed side effect ;) Just make sure you ask a lot of questions and do some research on it if you decide to give it a try.. There are a lot of of us that use it for your very situation. Good luck!

In addition... After having my PH low for so long, I never realized how much PH played a role in growth and the florescence of certain coral until I had corrected the problem. It made a big difference in my tank.
