I would like to add a new fish to my tank. As of now I only have 2. A falco Hawkfish and a Maroon Clown:irked:
I'll be honest with you all .I Hate This Fish. It kills everything I put in the tank.
The problem is. It is my daughters fish so I really cant get rid of it short of Blow Darting it in the middle of the night.
I was thinking a couple of chromis because I know they are damsels and may be able to defend themseves LOL.
Bottom dweller would probably be ok. But I only have a 1/2" of sand.
Any reccomendations would be welcome.
Thanks

Chromis are damsels yes but they are the wimps of the damsels they are known to beat up their own kind. Look at other damsels species not chromis though.

clownfish are damsels , so you may get more aggression.

I would go with a royal gramma , they are tough and colorfull. make sure you get one thats big enough that she doesnt just eat it.royal gramma are good fish even in small tanks.

If you do try a goby or blenny get one thats pretty big.

or depending on your tank size a rabbit fish .. nobody messed with them. 2 bar S.Doliatus or S.virgatus are bith great aqaurium fish and do fine in med size tank. they also will clean up any macro you might have lol.

Aggressive maroon clown... I wouldn't go Chromis unless you intend on getting like 5 but even then it's a risk because they for some reason drop off slowly.

Can you get a wrasse or have you true that already? Perhaps you can get a smaller clown.

Thanks for all the advice.
I would love a Wrasse but the tank is an open top, and maybe a little small for it. 34 gal.
Neon Dottyback is a cool choice.

Mine is like that too. I hate it. For years I gave up on adding fish..just the maroon and a yellow tang to beat each other up. But I think the thing to do is add more fish, add a few, at the same time. Last week I added a flame angel, hippo tang, and a mandarin. Everybody's happy. No aggression at all, all fish out in the open. Had it been one fish added, it would have had the crap beaten out of it. By the way, I don't think maroon clowns die. You may have it quite a while....

the size of your tank limits the type of fish you can keep that are aggressive enough to hold there own...IMO some that might do well are damsels such as blue devils, humbugs, blue jeweled or even wrasse like a decent size six line. As mentioned a dotty back are jumpers, but I had a Psuedo dutioiti for years with no problems..very tough little fish ..just don't keep anything with legs with it...LOL

I'm just gonna leave it for right now. My daughter is pretty attached to the fish.
I aslo dont want to add any damsels.
Thanks for the info on the dottyback Kathy.
