Banking Soda to raise alk

Can i use all purpose baking soda to raise alk or only the food grade for baking ?

i used it in my ponds the rase the ph i would not take the chance in my fish tank

What does it list as the ingredients?
I think one has a 'non-caking' additive in it...

use the one that you place at the back of the fridge to get rid of smell...Arm & Hammer Pure Baking Soda

The better way to raise your pH are to either open a window and get some fresh air into the room, run the air intake line from your skimmer out a open window or do a water change.

Also - ANY change in pH should be done VERY slowly!!

This one sayes pure baking soda and it aslo says for pool use.

+1 double check before you do it...get another tester to make sure.

Lol i ran out of alk so im doing that do it your self alk im not dosing anying right now just wht to now if i can use this so i can make a gallon jug of alk my alk is good

dont get me wrong i use it only if i need to rise ALK other then that i use balling salts

I used it in my fresh water tank and it worked great. But I wouldnt use it straight out of the bag. But if your baking it I was told by a great reefer before she broke everything down that you can use it baked with no problem. But I use the 2 part plus mag from BRS and its not that much money either.

As long as it is only sodium bicarbonate you should be fine. That stuff is great for clearing bathroom sinks to.
