i have used reef crystals almost exclusively since i started in the hobby. never had huge cyano outbreaks because of it.

there is a red slime or cyano primer here on the site, I consulted it during my 4 month struggle with the beast. Basically it could be the lighting, salt/water quality, flow. One by one you go thru them till you find what the REAL problem is, mine was flow.
