What kind of feeder shrimp do you want? Mysis? Volcano? Grass Shrimp? Ghost shrimp?

I have some of these and can get the others depending on the quantities you want. I can also recommend other places. It just depends on what you are looking for.

looking for mysis or anything in saltwater. I'm trying to get a Blue throat trigger to feed.

Get cocktail shrimp from the supermarket and cut it into bite size pieces. Live shrimp is not going to help you at all. If the Bluethroat does not eat the cocktail shrimp there is another issue to be concerned about. Those guys usually eat anything and if they pass on cocktail shrimp something else is wrong.

If you just got it give it a few days but keep trying the cocktail shrimp as often as you can. Put it on the end of a stick so you can put it near its mouth if its hiding in the rocks. After a few attempts with the cocktail shrimp it should be eating. I wouldn't waste money on live mysis. Maybe some Grass Shrimp but that is not going to increase your success rate anymore than the fresh cocktail shrimp. Peel the shell off the cocktail shrimp :wink1:

Let me know how this works out for you. If you insist on live shrimp I can give you some grass shrimp. If you want live mysis (I only sell in 1000 lots) you are better off ordering smaller quantities from Sachs Aquaculture online. But like I said, you'd be wasting your money on them IMO.

Great advice Dom. Do you suggest cocktail shrimp for other fishes? Seahorses? How much would 1000 shrimp cost and how big a tank would they need?

Thanks,
Chris

Yes I do. I use it for a lot of finicky eaters (boxfish, eels, triggers, wrasses, scorpions, etc, etc). Even tangs go for small pieces of it but its not the ideal food for them :wink1:

I sell the live mysis in 1000 lots for $200. They cannibalize each other plus fish and corals eat them so its hard to put a number to tank size. Also tank set up makes a difference too. 1000 is overkill if you are just stocking a tank with them and not using some as instant food. I usually try to get a few people in on an order so they can split the mysis up. Generally I tell people to add a bunch to the DT at night and add a bunch to their fuge if they have one. Once acclimated, they will reproduce on their own BUT only at populations your system can handle. If you don't have a fuge, they will just live in the crevices of rocks and you'll almost never see them unless you shine a flashlight in the holes of the rock at night.

hmmm. the larger trigger is still not eating.

Here's my situation:
I p/u a pair of blue throat triggers (m/f) about a week ago. The female (3") has been eating everything i put in the tank (pellets, flakes, and the shrimp). The male looks at the food but I have not seen him eat (6") anything yet. I would put the food in the take and back away so not to scare the fish. I tried soaking the food in Selco and Garlic extract before i feed it to the tank. The two fish is currently residing in a QT tank with PVC pipes for hiding and it has Cupramine in it. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
