New to the site, and tanks in general. I pretty much took over 2 separate tanks. A tank and stand from one friend, and all the good's inside it from another.

It's a 100gal tank, no clue how much live rock, but there's a bunch. I'm using a crushed Coral base.

Lit currently with a 36" dual lamp, (white bulbs) and a 48" 4 lamp Blue/White setup. Working on fixing the other 36" dual lamp, so the lighting is more even in the tank. (Currently lit in the center, light fades to the end. Tank is 72" long)

Ingredients are as follows;

1 Sail Fin Tang
2 Damsel (Blue body Gold tail)
2 Tomato Clown
1 (Nemo) Clown ( I don't know the correct name)
1 Chocolate Chip Starfish (Looking to get rid of this!)
1 Sea Hare (picked up today!)
4 Pepper Shrimp
1 Crab of some sort (1.5-2")
A ton of little hermit crabs, and a ton of snails.
3 store bought clams (I got them, literally just to have them)

I just bought today, my first piece of Coral.. I picked up a Polyp of some sort ( I don't remember the name) They look like little pods when closed, and when open have what looks like a flat top with Green fingers..

I'm working on re-doing some things in the tank. Starting with the lighting as I said above. I just added a timer for day/night lights and I'm adding Moonlight LED's soon into the two 36" fixtures.

I'll also be donating some of the live rock back to the friend that gave me the tank, to help clean up the look of mine. I feel the bottom looks to cluttered at the moment.

I tried posting pics, but I think I'm doing something wrong...

Welcome. You don't say how much experience you have but you did leave some clues.

Lots of things look nice but you want to read up on them before you buy and know what their requirements are and whether it is a good match to what you already have. And if you are new to saltwater read as much as you can as quick as you can. It will save you a lot of misery (and money).

Welcome and good luck, Why did you buy a Sea Hare? Do you have a Hair Algae problem? If there is no Hair Algae in the tank your Sea Hare will starve to death as thisis what they eat.

Yep. I've got plenty.

I admit it, I'm a reformed over-feeder. I was using flake food for a while, I've now switched to Frozen and was searching last night when I discovered the whole "rinsing" process and even the write up on making my own food combo. I've got to get a fine net and figure out a way to rinse it in my RO water before introducing it to the tank.

As for my clams, they've been alive for a while now (started with 5, starfish ate 2) and have gotten bigger.. I drop in two caps (rather then the 5 it calls for) of Phytoplankton (sp?) every two days. Right after it hits the water, they open up and I'm assuming, feed.

I'll be buying a wet/dry this weekend to plumb and get rid of my cheesy hang filters.. I'm truly putting this together on a shoe string budget and using what I can to save $.. The two friends I use for advice have tons more experience then me, and I go to them and nag for answers as I go.. I'm waiting on all new power heads and re-doing my lighting currently...

Then from there, I'll go on to something else.. Eventually, when the fish I have are "reclaimed" by my buddy, I'll look into doing a small schooling fish/Coral only tank.

I'll post pics, once I'm allowed too.. the ones I have are crappy anyway. I'll break out the HD cam and snap some new ones..

Welcome to the site and the hobby. Do yourself a favor and do tons of research. This hobby is expensive enough without making bad choices. You will save yourself a big headache if you research first and then buy. Ive seen people drop out of the hobby cause they had why to many problems from making bad choices in livestock and equipment!
