Nice find Mike, gotta check my local HD

Albano obviously if I saw any issues with my corals I would test everything
Right now everything is looking great sps polyps fully extended
I think you should be able to get a feel for your tank by looking at the corals and test when needed not every day jmo

fishman1069....they are old articles in the chemistry forum on RC ..I'll see if I can find a few...

aagresti...I wouldn't recommend using it..there maybe some harmful trace elements not listed..MAGFLAKE or pellets by DeadSea Works is the only one that I know of that has been tested and safe to use...

I've been unable to find MAG FLAKES in NJ, so I started looking for a alternate supply of cheap magnesium chloride. it just so happens that I have a bag of ice melter in my garage called Freeze Guard which is 100% magnesium chloride hexahydrate. It's produced by the North American Salt company and their website was shown on the bag. I took a chance and called them asking for information on the impurities. I left my name with someone in their customer support group who told me she give my name to someone in their technical support group. They actually called me back and I explained that I wanted to make an aqueous solution for a saltwater tank to dose magnesium and needed to know if there were any impurities. She actually spoke to the director of research and was told that they actually sell directly to several on the aquariums in Las Vegas and its fine for saltware use. there are zero phosphates in it, but there can be trace amounts of Nitrates (as it does come out a salt mine from a dried up lake). the current product is called Safe Step Extreme 8300.

just thought i'd share this info, obviusly use at your own risk
