so last night i got my first ecotech Vortech pump from russ. a MP10 ES. now im a noob when it comes to these so hear me out lol. i have a 29g bio cube. i read the instructions twice, and going on their site after posting this because it says full instructions on their website. i want to know, with all these setting (long pulse, short pulse, reef crest, lagoon, night, feed, constant speed) which setting would be easiest and best for a bio cube? i watched a few youtube videos on it, and it looks like most people have it set so the whole top of the tank is like a wave, which im guessing is one of the pulse settings. would that be best for a bio cube? i would like to get rid of both hydor mini evos in my biocube and have it all run off the MP10es. which setting do you guys think would be the best for me, and if you want to be real generious, how do you set it like that lol :tongue1: my tank consists of about 10-15 frags on two racks, and a few other corals like zoos, leathers, and softies.

also, is it ok to put it under one of my frag racks?

and finally... does anyone know the thickness of a 29g bio cube? i wanted to know if i should use that rubber peice inbetween the dry side and glass, but not sure if the thickness of my glass will require it?

YOu shouldn't need the rubber piece on that tank, I use Lagoon mode on my MP10 It starts as a nice calm flow and then works its way up to a stronger flow over roughly 45 minutes. It doesn't get to full strength everytime though. You also need to set the amount of flow you want my adjusting the dial. Did you get instructions with the MP10? It should have came with it and they are very easy to read. Lagoon mode is the 2nd set of LEDs under the yellow light.

Can you see waves on a biocube? fwiw my rimless is set to short pulse. Easy as pie, hit mode til light turns blue, set dial speed, hold set button until it turns a different shade of blue then let go. Now each time you go to short pulse mode, that speed setting will be remembered.

hmm lagoon mode seems cool. the one thing i was scared of was if it went on high flow because that would be way to strong for my tank i think and would knock things over lol. yes it gave me instructions, but i dont see lagoon in the instructions. it says info for...

ecosmart TSM (Tidal swell mode)
ecosmart NTM (nutrient transport mode)
random mode
short pulse mode
long pulse mode
feed mode

this mode is the mode i was thinking, but did not know if short or long pulse would be better. and no i would not be able to see the wave on top of the tank, but i dont really care, i just dont want it to splash out. i really just wanted my water to sway back and forth nice and easy.

Lagoon mode is the 2nd mode of the yellow light modes. The first is reef Crest. And it will only be as powerful as you allow as you can adjust the strength of flow with the dial. I have mine dialed all the way up in my 65 and it gets good flow through out the tank, but it doesn't even come close to pushing water out of the tank or anything. I tried the other modes on it but I like Lagoon the best as it seems to simulate natural ocean currents the best. The pulse modes from what I have read are better suited for 2 MP's working together to get that incoming outgoing tide effect. And the Reef Crest would be best suited for just SPS corals, I have a mixed reef and the MP10 is pointed directly at the SPS.

thanks, i found it. i have it on lagoon right now. seems decent, except my torch is flowing around like crazy. i could just move it higher in the tank.

so far i love it, but my exquisite wrasse is being retarted and swimming into it and coming close to getting sucked in. im sure it will learn its lesson soon...
