Thanks everyone for your welcome. I can't begin to tell you guys how much i missed being active here. Russ your right. Things could have been worse, but i am very grateful that my family is fine. For those of you that don't know me. I've been here for about 7 years and have not taken a break ever until i had this incident. If you want to see a little of what my tank use to look like before the crash here is the link to my tank build.

Well as for the incident.. I had a fire in my basement.. I was doing my monthly duties on my tank so i connected an extension chord that i use for draining tank for water changes. To make a long story short. I had to leave in a hurry for some reason and left it hanging over my sump. Some way the extension chord fell into the sump while still connected. to make it worse, the breaker for the outlet was faulty and never tripped. The fire started to burn under the tank igniting the stand and acrylic sump under my 155gal square tank. Fire started to spread and burned for 3 hours in my basement. But luckily the 155 gallon tank burst and the water turned off most of the fire. Fire started at 3:15pm and my wife got home at 6:30 and saw the smoke when she opened the garage and ran in and turned off the rest of the fire then called the fire department.. I was pretty upset that she ran in but i know if it was me i would of done the same thing.. If the tank would not have burst i would of lost my whole house the inspector said. I had a pair of black Aussie clown fish for a long time that i love and could not imagine them in that boiling water. The whole incident was pretty traumatizing.. I did not post because i just needed some time to get my home back to normal and 7 months later it finally is… I tried to save what i could in the tank. i bought a generator immediately. It was hard since we could not be in the house for 7 days. no electricity for those days either. i would run from the hotel every 10 hours to put gas in the generator and do a little more work on the tank. The four tanks in the basement were wiped out. My display 340 gallon on the first floor was affected because the sump feeding it was in the basement and lost 80% of the corals and 60% of my fish. I lost about 30 fish. I work hard everyday to try and save what was left. I still have 15 fish that made it through that disaster. My large clam. Surprisingly 4 acro's and a hand full of Lps. I could not believe i lost all my zoas. I would think they would be the ones to survive. I could not believe i lost my awesome chalice collection.. But so much for that. It's time to get it back to what it was..

Last note, I would of thought my wife would of said that's it for that hobby, I'm not taking a chance of that happening again. Instead she was extremely supportive and has helped me get this house and hobby back to where it should be. Thanks babe. I Love You. We have a lot of work to get the tank back but with her help and my kids it should be back in no time… Hey i cant forget to include MY BIG BUDDY FRANK ARRIAGA.. Dude your the best.. He has also been there for me since the first day..

I Want to thank everyone again for your nice comments and generous offers. As you know i'm also a vendor here as well. And even though we lost our complete stock from our holding tanks, I cannot except free frags from anyone because sooner or later I have to try and get the business back on track which will mean buying and selling and if for whatever reason a coral I received for free gets tossed in the selling mix I will not be comfortable selling the coral. Now if the corals is sold to me at a very reasonable price then it would be different. I still want you all to understand that I really appreciate it.
