Im sure Marine Depot would love everyone to run 2 more bulbs on their tanks.
I have the 6 bulb TEK on my 75 and barely have room to add food. On a 55 that light would be hanging over the front and back.

That is what stopped me from getting the 6 bulb- it is wider than my tank. Thanks everyone for the help! Since everyone has been raving about Jerl and his tank, I am going to utilize his color suggestion! I cannot wait : D

FWIW, I have the 6 bulb Current Extreme Nova Pro and it fits fine on my 55 gallon reef.

As far as Marine Depot, I find them, "for me", one of the most reliable of the Web sites. I find that their normal salesmen on the phone are very knowledgeable. Also, their prices have been really good in the last 2 years.

Im sure the 6 bulb Nova would fit. I was talking about the 6 bulb TEK not fitting. Ive had both and the TEK is considerably wider.

Yep. That's why I went with the Current.

I went through the search process for my 55 and my choices were limited going with a 6 bulb T5 setup. Now, if you want an MH/T5 combo, there are more choices. Or straight MH...

Well, I picked up my 4 bulb tek unit last night. Now I am in the process of ordering the bulb. Thank you everyone. I will post pictures as soon as I get the bulb and install the fixture over my tank. I can't wait. I feel like I am bringing my tank into the modern era lol

Jerl, I think I am going to make a tank thread. This tank has had a lot of changes recently, but positive ones. It has a skimmer running again (collection cup had to be replaced), new rocks from reefcleanres, more sand, 2 new koralias (putting the maxis in storage), a new tek light with an awesome bulb combo, new fish, and a revamp on my sump. So, I think I should document this progress. It's about time. Thanks for your help!

I just called Manhattan Aquariums to see how much they are charging for the bulbs. They haven't given me a price yet, but they said they don't carry the purple+. They do have fiji purple. Should I go with that? They do have the blue+ and aquablue.

you can do that to me the fuji is so pink washes out the other colors and 4 bulbs is hard to work with a nice combo
go with other blue plus or get both and try it if you go with other blue plus it will be blue look for sure

Is it going to be too blue where I lose the nice yellow in my midas, and the orange in the clowns? I want a tank that pops but doesn't look way too blue.

change the blue plus out for an aqua blue special
that should be good around 16 k
not too blue and not crazy white try it like i said it took me 40 bulb to get what i like so my liking is not the same as your but you will be in the ball park
