dont use any over the counter remedies.you need to figure out why you have red slime.how big is your tank.what kind of cleanup crew do u have.whats your light cycle.what test kits are u using.how old is your cartidges for ur ro/di unit and membrane age.do u have a skimmer and what kind.red slime is easy to eradicate if you know your system like you know your back of your hand

I got the Red nasty stuff to in the begining too. I think everyone does. I didnt use the chemi-clean tho. I just stuck to my water changes and sucked up as much of the nasties as I could. I also upgraded my skimmer from a seaclone(POS) to a Nautilus TE which is rated for 3x the amount of water volume than I currently have. It should go away after a while as long as you dont overfeed and do your water changes with quality salt and ro/di water

Only use chemicals like red slime remover as a last resort. It is the nuclear option that can cause huge stress on the livestock in your tank and can kill certain inverts.
The problem is with something that has been building up over the last few years and using this will just make the next outbreak worse.

I would try to figure out what is causing the problem and get ahead of it.

use Chemiclean Red Slime Algae remover --- works well =)

Exactly, works great. But Chemi Clean and "Red Slime Remover" are two different products.
Red Slime Remover works very fast but it is an antibiotic and you may not want to use it. I would not use it even though I have used it years ago. Chemi Clean is just an oxidizer and it works very well. I have used it numerous times even when I don't have a red slime problem. I never noticed any ill effects, nothing ever died, shriveled, or closed up. It makes the tank nice and clean and my tank is 40 years old.
After you are free of red slime or cyanobacteria, then you need to find the problem which is probably overfeeding. Water changing and crabs will not kill the stuff but it may just disappear on it's own. It is a bacteria but not a harmful one. It will not directly kill anything but may smother corals.
Chemi Clean is a chemical just like the other chemicals you are using like artificial salt which is about 50 chemicals, and if you use any additives, they are chemicals.
Your lighting is artificial as is your circulating pumps. Almost nothing in our tanks is natural so don't worry about using a chemical.

What have you changed in the past year? I had Cyano for a 1 1/2 years and had tried everything under the sun (Except red slime remover, I wanted to know the cause) except changing the salt, I switched from RC to ESV and have not had a problem since the switch. You can use is Special Blend (Reef Safe), Just don't expect it to work over night it will take about 2 weeks, what it does is consume the excess nutrients faster than the Cyano causing the Cyano to starve and die. What test kits are you using and what are the actual numbers for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates, alk? What is the TDS on your RO?DI water? You should cut back on your photo period for a while as well until you get a handle on it.
