Clownfish Gang

My ocellaris clown and my picasso clown (especially my picasso) are attacking my new ORA picasso. The picasso clown chased my new ORA clown straight into the overflow twice today. I don't know how he is even alive. He is perfectly fine but stressed because of the two clowns. What should I do (I am getting rid of the older picasso as part of a trade)?

2 clowns in a tank that small that get along and then adding a 3rd is asking for trouble. I would suggest getting a friend to hold it 1st, keep it in a QT if you have one or if those are not options even the overflow or sump (depending on if the pumps are covered) is a safer and less stressful place than your tank for it. Get on that trade ASAP. GOod luck.

Well its tough when u first introduce any new fish to a tank but especially when u introduce a clown to a tank where clowns are already callin it there home one idea would have been takin the old clowns out and lettin the new clown in for a while by him self to acclimate with less stress of being bullied than put the other clowns back in with lights off that might have helped in the ease of a new clown

I am not keeping one of the picassos. I was supposed to trade it. Hoping the trade hasn't fallen through : / My flow is very strong the fish couldn't handle my sump : /

U could put them in a bucket with water and if u have an air stone for acouple of hours jus to let the clown explore and acclimate that's what I would have done when I typically entroduce a new fish I usually turn lights off or I feed with jus actinics

get the plastic breeder thing that either floats or hangs in the tank. like the one they use for guppys (they are like 12$) they let water flow through and they are clear so the clowns can see each other and still be safe. I kept one of my little guys in a breeder like that for a few weeks one time. just be sure he is big enough or the slots/hole are small enough he wont get stuck in them.

if the lil one is big enopugh to be in the DT, you can put the bigger one in the breeder. I call it the penalty box.. it works good for introductions.

You have to many clowns in such a small tank. Get rid of one or two and remember research goes a long way in this hobby.

yeah man, if your sump isnt working get the breeder box. it is not fair to that clown. if you can get him to brooklyn i will hold him for you until you can trade him.

If I wanted to add 1 clown to a tank with 2 existing ones I would move my rocks around a little bit and try if possible take the clowns out and throw them all in together with the new rockwork so they all establish new territories . I did it a while back had no problems in a 46g breeder
