Anyone know what perils a chocolate starfish will do to my reef tank? The tanks is 90% SPS and clams. I know they say that the starfish is not reef safe, will eat small inverts, clams, soft corals & possibly stony corals also. Is this absolutely true though?
I bought it for my Harlequins, they ran out of asterinas some time ago and now I don't see them so possibly, they starved to death already. The day I bought the starfish, I still saw one of the two Harlequins but it's been a week with no sighting and the starfish is roaming around the tank.
So my question is:
Do I need to take the starfish out? I haven't seen it do any harm or damage yet.

TIA

No fuge and both my systems have sumps with rather moderate flow through and 1.5" intakes and no screens so it might get sucked into the return pump.
I'll throw it in the fowlr for now and hope it doesn't have a taste for froggies and hammers.
Thanks fishman.
