Sand Question

I am finally going to be able to set my tank up and I was wondering if I should use the sand that has been sitting around for awhile or should I just go with new sand altogether? The sand is definitely fish tank safe because I bought it from a fish tank friend but I do not remember which brand name it was.

What do you recommend?
