guys how does this sound for when i get the money for em..

2 250 watt reeflux 10k w/ 2 40 watt no actnic flourescant..

i saw them on kris's tank and i liked the way it looked... is this good.

I personally don?t like the Reeflux bulbs. I haven?t seen House new setup yet, but he seems to be able to get away with the phoenix w/o actinic supplements. Maybe someone else can chime in and give an opinion on houses lighting?

yeah hamilton 14k is SE...You could use the 2 NO actinics with the 14k and it would be ok. (I would still go VHO though ;))
I like the look with actinics + you can view your tank longer under just actinics

The M58 runs the reeflux way below spec, the electronics beat the PAR by alot, ppl say that wen reeflux are run on m58's they look like crap. Im giving it a shot on HQI's PAR shoots up by 30-40%.

use NO bulbs for your hallways, use VHO for your tank ;)

IMO fluoroscents help fill in the blanks point source lighting can create, plus its a wholelotta mo' lumens!

StingNYC,

what ballast did u run the RL's? these were SE right?

I had SE Rl's, they were ran on a Aquamedic Magnetic HQI Ballast. I'm planning on switching to Icecap Ballast after I come home from vaca....

Dude Houses lighting is awesome. The bulbs he is using gives off enough white and blue light so it doesn't need the actinics. I just saw it it's great.

I'll be getting this system shortly:
http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=CU01060

has an elec. ballast, and comes w/ 14k PowerPaq bulbs. I'd like to get a nice white/blue mix- and would like to go 20k so I don't have too much intensity for my LPS near the top half of my tank. I think 14k would be a little strong- thoughts?

Any ideas on a nice crisp 20k bulb? Or suggestions about the lighting?

I know I've posted about this before- but now theres this sticky up here soooo...

Thanks!

why not just go 400w halides without actinic supplementation?

Lol....it's a 16g tank. :bigeyes2: Plus the wattage has little to do with coloration, i.e. actinic supplementation. That's why he's looking for a bulb with a color temperature of 20k.
