Guys, I think Im going to pull the trigger on this fixture. Can anyone give me info on the SlimPaq bulbs they come with? Are they good quality? Will this fixture allow SPS with those specific bulbs? Thanks!!

Its not a bad fixture, but the bulbs HAVE to go if you want sps. Its not a "good" fixture though either, lacks indvidual reflectors and not the high quality reflective material that the ati's and tek's use. It does have fans though and seperate plugs for night and day. I have one that i supplemented with another two bulb fixture for a total of 8 bulbs and its plenty bright with ati and kz bulbs.

With the bulbs that are in it you will prolly not be able to get away with high light corals. If you swap out the bulbs and are thoughtful of where you place the corals I think youd be ok with most stuff.... this is just my opinion having used one of these fixtures over my tank, other members will probably have diff opinions on the issue.

thanks adatmt. Am I going to have to swapoutthe bulbs on ANY T5 fixture I buy? If thats the case, I may justkeep the crappy 8 bulb T5 I have now and only use 6 bulbs. Only reason I want to swap it out is because theres no splash guard, no fans on the unit.

Are you getting the pro model? That one has parabolic reflectors. I Would not consider a T5 without them.

If you can wait for 2 weeks, I have a 48" pro that was bought 5/5/10. The bulbs that come with it were only fired for a few days. I will be selling it for $250.00.
