LED spacing?

Tank is 84x30x30. Building a fixture and am thinking of spacing 3w leds 2"-2 1/2". Too close or about right? Tank is mostly SPS

I'd stay closer to the 2" mark, less color spotlighting.

at 30" depth, depending on how deep you want to keep SPS, you may need to make it even closer then 2", even with optics which I strongly suggest using. Perhaps try more for 1.5" unless you don't want to keep SPS in the lower 1/3 of the tank
