Im in the process of breaking down my tank because Im moving to Florida. I sold off most of my livestock and will be draining the tank in a week or 2. I want to save my rock so when I get to Florida, I can use the rock to cycle the 125 I want to set up. What do you guys think is the best way to store my rock? I was planning on putting it in a rubbermaid storage container and sealing it with shrink wrap. Its going to be stored for a couple of months. Do you think I should cook the rock first and then store it? Or is that just a waste of time? Any advice is appreciated. Thanx

if you're storing for a few months they begin the cooking process when you get down to florida. tis way you'll have the room and don't have to bring any water with you on the move. Once you get down to florida and have settled, then start the cooking.

Does the rock have any livestock on it ? If so maybe you can chisel the livestock off and give it away or sell it. If it has unwanted pests ( aiptasia ) then just pack it away dry with some moist newspaper to keep it from drying out. Good Luck on your move.

If you follow the cooking process of total darkness, the mushrooms will most likely make the process.

I though you can easily get much better and cheaper live rocks in Florida, why bother to store and ship them?
I plan on getting rock down there but I made half of the rock I have and I bought some unique pieces when I started so I want to keep them. I guess I could sell it but Id rateher use it. Im going to drill it and use rods to make some kinda of structure. It will be easier to do that while its dead and dry
