nah thats cool.

I don't have experience with them but maybe solar panels. Not for the electricity (eventhough you might get some) but because it absorbs the light. But they are expensive and I'm not sure if it would be a real benefit or how effective they are.

hehe, yeah i'm trying to lay low for a bit. I really want my stuff to grow a little more before I start posting. And my rocks are just really starting to pick up on coralline but are still really green. I'll start a tank thread here soon.

This is the last pic I took but this is months ago. Now the rock is mostly green and I took down the hood.

I would post some shots but I haven't found anything to clean the 1" acrylic from the inside yet. And coralline and some other stuff is growing on the walls.

sorry if you already thought of this option (or if its too obvious) but I read about it in someones tank thread on RC and thought I would share.

Use the cold water line from your RODI unit to cool your tank. Just coil a lot of the tubing into your sump and it should help alot. the guy who thought of it (or at least posted about it) made some tubing length recommendations in his thread. I believe his name is Psyre over on RC, search for his tank thread in the large reef tank forum
