this kind of relates to the poll of what you would like to see new on MR.
I was wondering how many people have threads of their tanks posted on MR as opposed to RC or some other site. I have a thread I started on my new tank posted on RC. I was thinking about starting one here but it does not seem like people do that here. One advantage that MR has over RC is that you can edit your posts. That's a huge help if you want to keep a diary of your tank. You can update things without people having to search through the thread to find information, and you can make a table of contents with links, if your thread gets that big.
I'd like to see what everyones tanks look like, and it's a great way to share ideas, and see how eachothers frags are doing:)
I think it would be great to have a section for peoples threads so you would not have to search through all the other posts to find them.
any thoughts?

Jonathan, thats a great idea.. I've been waiting for someone to do that. Weird noone post there tank here and discuss it here..

This way we are all able to discuss and maintain like a member's tank setup and questions, etc. Of course it will be ideal to have every single member having a diary of their tank.

:D Lets get the party started..

:)sounds good, that's what I was thinking.
I'm going to be changing my tank design in the next few weeks, I might wait a bit to post mine.
one thing, is there a way to bookmark threads here, or do they just disapear after a while? would you have to keep bumping your tank thread up? that could be why we don't see the tank threads here :(

I know what you mean about RC, I still check it out though, I've met some cool people there. I just ignore the wacko's.

That's a great idea Jonathan.

I did try and start a thread like you suggest a while ago. It was called "Manhattanreefers let's see your tanks". The thread got alot of posts then it kind of slowed down/disappeared. But there's alot more action/posting going on here now, :D .

Seeing other ppl's setups is a great way to get new ideas...
also threads showing time series photos of growth are some of my favorites
would a new forum under general discussion for tank progress threads make sense?

Lets set up another area of the board. Something like "Member's tank spec's" over at reefs.org.

I'm working on a web page for my whole setup/build. I'll post it here when I get it done.

I think a new section in the forum might be the best thing. I remember that thread shaun, that was a good start. but it does not work setting up a thread about your tank if it's going to get deleted over time. how many threads will the site allow before it starts bumping the off? can that be changed. what if the new tank section did not delete threads. is it a matter of space on the server? I could understand that. If enough people wanted to see permanent threads available is that something that can be changed? I think I would rather have my tank thread posted on MR, I'll still keep updating my thread over on RC because that's where it is. I guess building a web page like BC's doing is the best option right now.

funny, i was just thinking abour starting a thread here. my new tank is only gonna be fowlr though. i'd rather post a tank thread here, b/c it's more likely to get more help from local reefers. i'm keeping a photo log of everything i'm doing right now. i'll start posting pics of everythingi i'm diong, soon. i didn't want to start the thread right away b/c it's taking a while for me to get everything going, and i didn't want the thread to be lost right away.

okay, ignore what I said about the server. I totaly missed the option to change the amount of posts to show. I thought posts were getting knocked off the board for good
so I'll be starting a thread soon enough. I still think having a section just for tank threads would make life easier.

BC,

I think that is probably the best way to keep track. We can call it Member Tank History or somthing better than that. I will email the mod about this and see if we can get a new section up so we can start posting a chronological thread of our tanks.

Good stuff, keep em coming.

EDIT: Solbby didn't see your last thread.

Everyone should start preparing now. Take as much pictures as possible and keep a diary. Then when the new section is up, you can flood it with photo and diary.

yeah, maybe we can crash the server, hehe, just kidding.
It will be cool to see everyones tanks.
should we have a loose form that everyone can follow, or does everyone want to do there own thing?
I was thinking to do a full tank shot with the quick specs under it, then details can follow that. that's just me.
