Aren't the levels of TM really low? Ca, Alk and Mag? Anyone know of a high Ca salt thats good?

I heard of an oceanpure but it hasnt been around the area yet at least not in LFS

I am also seeing problems w/ oceanic even thought i was a defender, My 1st bucket that i bought when it first came out ran out, i bought one about a month ago and I am seeing HA and tufts of brown/black "Ball Fuzz"..lol..you know what i mean ;)

Oceanic is GARBAGE

You can't go wrong with TM or TM pro. IMO pro is not worth the extra cash though.
Reef crystals is also very good.
I never had problems with regular IO but that low MG level was a PITA to keep up.

Solbby swears by Bio-Essay although I don't have experience using that salt.

If you look on RC you'll find a whole bunch of survey on Salt. It use to be that there was a big difference in salt but now a days, and it's been like this for a while, most of the salt are very good and you'll find people swear by certain salts and have great results with them. Also a # of people told me that they use the sea water that comes mixed are have had great results with that, the ca levels are very high.

The price difference, even if it's $14, isn't alot considering the amount of $$ you send on you tank.

I just read some posts on reeffrontiers about people testing TM and it coming up with a level of PO4-10 on freshly made TM. If that is true I wouldn't touch that stuff.

also some stories of hair algae blooms after using it.

That's not good, incredibly high phosphate just by using the salt. Talk about beginning with a huge handicap.

I have had bad experience with Crysal Sea salt. It has terrible buffering capability (too low Mg) and is bad for an SPS tank with a Ca reactor attached.

I really like BioAssay Salt. It's the best one I've used so far.

I've been using it for years and have never had any hair algae blooms or any problems at all. I've been using the new one for about a month now and I need to check my cal to see if I see a difference, I've been busy and haven't had a chance.
