RODI Sediment Filter

I had my sediment filter on last weekend when the water coming out of every faucet turned thick and black - not sure what was up with the city's water supply. Anyway, I'm fairly sure that the sediment filter in my RODI didn't enjoy it much. Is there a way that I can rinse it? It's quite new and I'd rather not replace it yet if not totally necessary.

if the sediment pad is green completely then i would change it.

It's a BRS filter

For a $5 replacement after something so gross spewed out of your faucet, I'd certainly be having one less drink out this weekend and replacing the sediment pre-filter.
