 For all you divers out there...

I am taking a trip to Cabo san Lucas in AUgust- my friends and I would like to dive, but none of us are PADI certified. My question is- do you need to be PADI certified before going on a dive with a tour? Can you just take a intro. class and then go on an easy dive with a tour? Or will we end up snorkling instead?

Getting certified down there isn't an option- it would take up too much time....

Thanks!

You can take the classes here and just do the open water dives down in Cabo. I dont know if you will find someone who will let you dive without being certified in Cabo and if you did, I wouldnt suggest you do it anyway!

You can do a "resort" course which will NOT certify you, but they take you out for 2 tanks after you do some tests in the pool and watch a video.

However, I would definately advise against diving in Cabo, especially if these are new divers. They will probably not have a very good time and would be reluctant to try it again.

:eek:k: guess we'll settle on a snorkle trip and do more fishing! strange thing though- i keep getting mixed responses about cabo... i've heard that the fishing is bad, but diving is great- and that the diving is horrible and the fishing is amazing-- think it all depends on the weather?

Sounds like someone was confused, or had too much tequila to remember which city they were in. We are talking about Cabo, the "Marlin Capital of the World". Fishing is some of the best you can find. My friend has been going there for 15 years straight, and the only thing he likes to do in his free time is fish.
