So this is the first time I have ever bought anything alive that needed to be shipped. I bought some corals because the price was insanely low and I have never seen 2 of these before ever in over 16 years in the hobby. The problem I have now is that FedEx guarenteed delivery by 10:30 am. The problem is that it is now 12:40 pm. I called them twice and they gave me different delivery times both times. Which have both passed by now. Anyone ever have a problem with them before? I know the packages have been shipped and the tracking # shows them on the truck for delivery at 8:41 am. I live 10 minutes from the hub it was sent out from, and I know I'm not the only one getting packages but if you say 10:30 at least have them here somewhere near that time.

If it's guaranteed contact the shipper (whoever you bought this from) UPS and FedEx tend to listen alot more to the shipper (the guy who paid them) more so than the person receiving the item. If you paid for something to be received by a certain time the item is guaranteed or free even if it comes 10 min later than expected so contact the seller and get your shipping costs back, you might also want to inspect the package because if the item received is deceased that's also usually covered.

I called the seller not long after I posted this thread, He called them already and I just got off the phone with Fedex. Needless to say the new delivery time is 1:30pm. This is the first time I have ever ordered anything alive and this will defintely be the last time.

I have never had this problem with FedEx. I have done a few online orders and they are typically really good about delivering the live animals on time. My FedEx guy even wants to know what in the box most of the time.

Their shipping methods have been perfected over the years. As long as you get it today, everything should be fine. At worst the coral might be a little stress, but should return to normal in a few days. I would be more concerned if you had fish shipped, because of the shipping water parameters changing due to waste, etc.

Has anyone ever tested the shipping water parameters? I'm interested to know if they are in line with normal parameters.

Well I just got it the corals are floating in the sump to get the temp adjusted. The afro seems to look very stressed. Everything else looks ok as of now. I was more worried about the scan more than anything else. The colors on this thing are crazy. Pics will follow when everything looks normal.

I'm certainly not gonna steer you to one vendor or another, but if I told you how many orders I've placed online I'd expect to see folks with straight jackets storming into my office at any minute, lol! For me it's been literally hundreds, and I can tell you that I've had exactly three screw-ups like yours. It happens. Nothing in this world is perfect.

I don't know if you had this shipped to your home or your office/work. It definitely works 1000% better to a business address.

Unless it's covered by the company he bought from Livestock is not covered or by any of the big 2. (FEDEX/UPS). If weather should cause the delay it is considered an "Act of God" and also voids all shipping insurance and gaurantees. A little more info here:

There was a time when both FedEx and UPS would not ship any animals, marine livestock included. Today, FedEx still does not officially accept live animal shipments as part of its regularly scheduled service, but they do accept them on an “exception basis.” According to their stated policy, “[l]ive animals will be accepted when the shipment is coordinated and approved by the FedEx Live Animal Desk.” In short, to ship an animal such as a fish through FedEx, the shipper must be a FedEx certified shipper of live animals.

UPS does not have a certification process. Instead, UPS simply states which live animals are permitted for shipment. If the “animal” in question is on the list of acceptable live animals, and if you’re willing to pay to ship Next Day Air and follow the packaging guidelines, then UPS will ship the animal. FedEx, on the other hand, requires shippers of live animals to have their packaging tested and pre-approved by FedEx. “FedEx came to us in the industry and asked questions,” Mark Martin from Blue Zoo Aquatics, a leading online supplier of marine livestock, explains. “They developed a best practices for shipping livestock which they incorporated into their training program.”

It was to my home, FedEx delivers on average 3 packages a week to my address, So I assume they know where I live lol. This wasn't the regular guy though seeing as this was express and not ground. I also see what to so long as this guy wanted to BS for ever.

Fedex Overnight express is usually handled by a different shift/crew than the guys that deliver ground packages. So it's not quite an apples to apples comparison.

But it seems like verything worked out fine. As others have noted, a few hours late isn't usually a problem. Glad to see it worked out.

I have done a few orders through fed ex usually it does arrive by 10:30 if not before..however 1 time I did have an issue like this I kept checking the site and waited called around noon they said the driver came and I wasn't there..I'm like believe me I was home I was sitting in my living room w/ the windows open sitting on my couch waiting for him he never showed. I'm like there was no door tag or slip in the mail box..everytime they come and you are not home they have to leave it and it wasn't there. So then the girl tells me hold on she was going to call him. I'm on hold she comes back and says he was goin to come back again and deliver it. Again I wait and wait no one ever comes. I call again and the girl tells me now the driver doesn't have time to bring it. I'm like are you friggin kidding me? He doesn't have time? He never showed up in the first place! I was soooo pissed. So she tells me now I have to go to their location and pick it up. So I have to take a 35 min ride in traffic to go pick up my package. For the most part everything was ok I only had a few casualties I was still pissed though. They also told me that to make an insurance claim that the SELLER has to file it and he would get the money since he put the insurance on. Which I think is ridiculous. Gotta love bs policies.

I'm glad that didn't happen to me, at least the Fedex hub is 10 minutes from me though. I will post pics later in the week, The zoas and palys aren't to special, They are green nebulas and he threw in a frag of mindblowing palys. Those replaced the sunflowers I ordered but started to melt in his tank. I didn't even ask him for them he said he did it since the sunflowers looked like crap. The Acro is a Fuzzy Blue, not sure if it is the real name but I have never seen one this color, and the Acan is Purple, Pink, Red and green, with some orange.

Fedex/UPS has shipping that guarantees by 10AM the next day, you need to find out from the seller what they use next time before ordering.

I know my former company sends out financials every qtr using the gauranteed overnight shipping. Whatever wasn't made on 10AM, they'd get the credit back on it.
