about cycling my new tank ?

i have bought dry marco rock and i want to cycle the tank. what is the best way to start cycle,
1 dead shrimp
2 seed with some live rock
3 buy that bottle from fish store to pour in the tank
4 what is best for the tank please let me know thank guys and tanks m/r

I think seeding with live rock would work best. Get a piece or two from someone locally that you trust (so it hopefully doesn't have harmful hitchhikers) and place it in the tank with the dry rock.

Seed with a piece from an established tank would be best. I would forget the chemical theory. I don't like that stuff.

I would dose with prodibio startup to help get the tank going. I dose biodigest and bioclean and my tanks parameters are great.

Also agree with some live rock. Or live sand.

OR, if you know someone with a salt water set up, ask for a current used filter pad before they throw it out and throw it in your tank...

thanks guys i pick up 150 lbs live sand from retired reefer that was moving and picked up 150 lbs sand that i will be using i hope that helps too. and i will but some rock from some one to seed my tank. so no dead shrimp or chemical start for sure !

300 pounds of sand? Sweet! Sounds like a good size tank!

The sand will seed the tank.

When I set up my tank I used water from an established tank.

Live rock is the best way to go first of all.

If you have to add anything, I would start with the Nutrafin Cycle, i've tried that when I had my nano tanks long time ago, worked well. Then I used Brightwell MicroBacter7 to continue the process. But again, live rock and live sand
