y is my ph so low

im having a ph problem ,my ph is about 7.0 to 7.2 never any higher ,i have recalibrated my ph probe at leat 20 times ,i ordsered new fluid and tryed it again ,i also tested my cal fluid and its reading true ,y cant i get my ph up ? my tanks a little over a year old i have lps clams sps and everything been doing great i have no idea y its so low any ideas ,heres my parameters alk 9.0

i know mine gets low when my windows are closed , i open my windows up and my ph goes right back up....try to crack a window a lil bit if possible

+1 My pH was always lower in the winter, with the windows closed and the dry heat from the vents. I never seen it that low tho! It has to have something to do with O2, not really sure tho.

Mine was in that range and i still had pretty good growth with my softies and lps so I just ignored it and for some reason unbeknownst to me, it slowly went up over the course of 3 or 4 months and is now always at 7.9-8.0.

He is running pellets thats why his ph is low. What skimmer are you running . when running pellets you need a really overrated skimmer to keep ph stable

id re-check cal reactor, thats really low to the point of stressing corals and fish,

try a test kit, do you get the same results as the probe?
Dose with a ph buffer if you need to raise it.

its def not the probe i recalibrated it with new solution when i dip the probe in the 10 reagent it reads 10 same with the 7 i opened a window ,batt ur saying u think its the pellets can i shut the pellet reactor off and see if it goes up will that mess up the pellets and kill the bacteria

as for the skimmer im way over kill i have the asm g4 with the mod 2nd recirculating pump skimmer pulls like a mofo

I'd start by testing with a kit as well, you may have a faulty probe; how old is it?

the probes about 5 months old got it with my reefkeeper lite

Probes not that old to fail yet but could be it, try the probe in RO and fresh salt mix.

Are you running a calcium reactor? effluent output may be to close to the probe?

i have a cal reactor ready to go but i def aint hooking that up till i get my ph up i think that would make ie worse

Charlie, test the PH in a new batch of saltwater, if it is 8-8.4, you will know your probe is good. You do have the probe in the water right?

when i ran the pellets i had very low ph now they are off line no problems keeping it at 8.2 8.3 with dosing kalk
jmo i think the pellets did more harm then good
its just my opinon

I'm gonna shut down the reactor for a few days and see if theirs a diff I've been running the pellets for a while now and it was never below 8.0

pellets will not cause your ph to drop like that, i have been using them for almost 8 months with no issue's my ph stays 8-8.2

people assume it is pellets alot of time, go read on RC. i did have a post in reguards to it and have read and used them for 8 months as stated with no issue's

when i took the pellets off line i had no ph problem after that so mabey its was something but the only thing i change was the pellets
its just my opinon

Chuck ..x2 on the probe..how long between when it was 8.0 and then you noticed it was 7.0..a day, week?...because if it happened within a day or so a quick drop like that would effect corals as well the fish...
