paint?

Thinking of painting the trim of my tank to match my stand.

anyboby ever paint the trim on their tank?
If so what kind of paint did you use?

That all depends on the material and what was used for the rest of the tank that you are trying to match.

My stand is pine and was black made by AGA and I wanted to match a canopy for it. I sanded the entire thing and used minmwax black ebony stain. Then applied satin polyurethane to protect it. When you use stain you still get the wood grain.

If its mdf you can just use a matt spray from the hardware store and follow it up with a spray on polyurethane.

oops! Trim. You can use any acryllic based paint.

my stand is olive greenish and the trim on the tank is fake wood (plastic).
This would be ok but, my lights are black and I don't like this mix....

Rather than trying to match the paint I would suggest that you repaint the entire thing in a color you like. For light fixtures you need heat resistent paint. Check the temp resistence!!! Otherwise you will be dealing with nasty smells for a long time.

Oh.. I love the color
I picked it to match the furniture in my apt.
I just want to paint the trim black to match the lights
