I had a Deep Blue Triton 3 (850GPH) that was in my brand-new 46G, 36" long bowfront tank for about a week, but wasn't happy with how it was pushing water in & out of the Aqueon Pro Flex 3 sump, so I exchanged it & paid the difference for a Triton 5 (1350GPH). Pushes more water (obviously!) and I'm happy with it.

The funny thing is, when you compare the 3, 4 literally side-by-side, they all look exactly the same. Dimensions are the same.

I did a little digging and found a place that sells spare impellers. Just judging from the photos of the impellers, it looks like they just use smaller ones on the Triton 3 and go up in impeller diameter on the 4 and 5. Again, I can only go by the photo but this is what the deal appears to be here.

The reason I ask is because, say you have a Triton 3 and want to increase flow - do you have to spring for the new pump or just get a new impeller?

Thanks
John

If the impeller size is different then the motor could be the same.
What are the power requirements of the two pumps? If they draw the same electricity then the impeller size could be the only difference.

I would like to find out because I have the 850 gph on my 75.
