Please Help me Choose a HOB Skimmer

Last time I reefed AquaC was the way to go re HOB skimmers. I recently read in the skimmer thread that spray tech is outdated and needle wheel is the way to go.

Is this accurate? I like that the Remora is blackened and pretty slim comparably. The ones I've owned worked pretty well.

Should I opt for something else tho, like a monstrous Octopus hang-on?

How big is your tank?

Aqua Maxx and Eshopps make decent HOB skimmers for smaller tanks. Anything larger than a 36g and you need to look at the Octopus skimmers. Deltec makes a really good HOB, but it's quite pricey.

I appreciate the replies. While I was waiting for them tho, I wandered over to ebay and found one for cheap and pulled the trigger.

My tank is a 26 bowfront (avatar) and I wanted to stay away from having to set up a sump. But I do realize skimming is key so I was looking for a slim HOB.

I'm a big bubble magus person. I would not get a little one. I would get one that gives you some room if you upgrade.

Thanks Ryan. I went with the Remora for now and don't see myself upgrading. As a matter of fact I've downgraded to the 26BF. One my second one.
