Same here! Mine actually watches the tv with me! (Since my tank is in my living room) I watch him just hang there facing the tv for 5-10 miinutes at a time. Go hide, then come back out again.
Just wanted to revisit this thread. As the Naso died shortly after the last post. But I didnt give up. I had to try again. So I picked up another bnt. This one was a little more open. He didn't hide as much and I picked him up the same day he arrived at the lfs. Not the smartest thing to do I know. Anyway after doing extensive research on them I learned it is very hard to acclimate a juvi under 4 inches. That's it's better to get a larger one and make sure it's eating aggressively at the store. Mine was just around 4 inches. The change of color display is it being stressed. It will turn very dark almost black. If he stays like this it's a bad sign and is more than likely going to die. The one I have now has not displayed this. But it will show a light grey to white almost of patchy spots around the main body and the nose will get very dark. The dorsal fin will also stay erect. But this is only if he gets scared somehow. The firs few days were hard trying to get him to eat. I tried everything. Pellets flakes mysis krill shrimp dried algae red algae brown algae green algae. Nothing. He wouldn't eat. I read that in the wild they like to graze on fresh seaweed and macroalgae. So I gave it a shot. I picked up some gracilaria red stuff and some lettuce algae. Put it right into the tank. And he started picking. Little by little he would eat more. His pinched belly began to disappear. Then he would go after pellets flakes spirulina. Not everything but most things I put in. I don't use a baster. So I just wanted to right this to help anyone out there that might be having the same problems and can't find anything on this. If you want your Naso to survive you have to try all measures of feeding. Don't stop at one thing. Another thing I read but didnt get to try is ogo. Japanese seaweed used for sushi. Hope this will help anyone out there having difficulty feeding their naso or any type of tangs for that matter!
