attached hermit crabs

Hello, I have a large red leg hermit crab promptly hung onto a smaller red leg. I've tried separating them--had to take many good pokes--but they've began their latching again. They were initially seen latched together 3 days ago. Then that night I separated them. The next morning they were at it again, at the same location, in the front of the aquarium. Should I separate them? Is the red leg trying to kill the other? Thanks.

There is a another big hermit crab and the two big ones are really going at it trying to get at the smaller hermit. Any ideas?

you should puts some empty hermit shells in your tank and make sure that they have enough food to eat in the tank.My crabs started going after my turbo snails because there was not enough food for them to eat.

maybe trying to kill him and take his shell

#3 there are at least as much empty shells of different sizes... and the guy being the aggressor has a larger shell than the other..
