Why don't you talk to one of our many wonderful registered vendors here at Manhattan Reefs? They can often get special order items for you. Support the people who help support this site.

I mean I'm a pretty big supporter of the vendors, I always check them out first. I go into manhattan aquariums 2-3 times a week, I also deal with Russ at Saltwater Critters pretty often. I've never gotten any corals shipped from them, however, it is an option. I was just surfing the web to see what else was out there.

I understand. But if you see something that you like on another website chances are that our vendors can get it for you.

I would not do business with them again! The pics are enhanced to the point I ordered a bright neon green plate coral and got a tannish green that gets a little greener under atinics but nothing like their pics. Only positive is I picked up about 150+ Red people eaters for $80, thought that was a pretty good deal. horrible costumer service, took me sever days to contact someone by phone or email to ask some questions and talk about what they had shipped. So if your just looking for big corals to stock your tank and aren't worried so much about color, you could buy from them as I have a 10x10 maze brain coral from them thats pretty nice (pics showed waaaaaay more color, though still nice). I have since joined MR and now do most of my coral shopping from locals, much nicer experience, better products, and 99% is aquacultured which is faster growing and hardier than wild caught specimens anyway!!! IMO

Hope this helps!!!

And yes I realize there is color difference between tanks and lighting ect. but the difference between their pics and my tank is really different, and makes it hard to judge the color when it arrives, so I have taken the guess work out of it and found other venders. lol

Sorry if Im ranting but really wasn't impressed by them. their sale prices are on par for the quality of corals you get. IMO

99% of the online stores enhance the picture's, with macro shots you will never really see the coral looking like that in your tank as well as photo shopped, overly blue light ect. now onto them. i have gotten stuff from them once before, no real issue's, their pricinguse to be great but as they have grown and gotten known their pricing went up

Yeah I found out the hard way that online photos are photoshopped! lol Thats why I will only buy something if I can see it with my own 2 eyes! plus by doing so your r helping either a fellow reefer or a lfs, how could you go wrong there? but like i said extremecorals is not bad if your looking for large corals at decent sale prices. Just not worth the gambol. IMO

They once sent me a few corals in winter, and even after i mentioned how cold it was in ny (so they could add heat packs), the coral arrived in water that was 50 degrees. I called instantly to explain this as a few corals look dead. The response was, corals can handle 50 degree temps and the water is prob warmer then 50 anyway. I called the next day when coral was just white skeletons and i was told that they would give me a credit on my next order. They never answered the phone again when i called (so i obviously couldnt get credit on my next order). I called amex and had them dispute the charges (only the cost of the dead coral).

I will never order from them again.
I order from liveaquaria (divers den), or MR vendors

Thanks everyone for the responses. As I thought would be the case, it seems like the corals are unfortunately photoshopped. Glad I asked before experiencing that as well. Always my first choice is to go to MR vendors, but after a while of going in there multiple times a week you just want somewhere new to explore. I am going to post on the site to try and organize a trip from the city out to saltwater critters. I've been meaning to get out there for a while. If anyone else can think of another worthy trip by all means PM me and we will try to get something together.

Just check out Reefs Creation site and it sucks thay dont really have anything .

That's odd, I don't think Alan even has a web site besides the forum here. Did you go to the wrong one in Buffalo with a similar name?

This is Alan's tank, are we talking about the same vendor?
