mp40 question

my hydor korlia wavemaker took a crap on me im looking to buy the mp40 for my 90 gallon tank will one be enough to do it or should i go with 2 :smash:

What kind of corals do you have and is there a lot of rock in there?

mainly lps a few small sps and about 140 lbs of rock

I've got the same tank, and am mulling over a similar question (regarding flow) as you are..

For LPS dominate, which mine will be as well, I think 1 MP40es will be fine for now.

If you have time, head over to Long Island Aquarium (rte 231 in Deer Park).. Great store, but more importantly, he has a single MP40es running on his 90 gallon display tank. It'd be a good way to gauge the flow without having to buy anything.

with lps you can use just one mp40.sps requires a strong flow,so runnning a mp40 and maybe a mp20 should be good for sps if you dont want to buy two mp40s.

I'm confused. Are the retailers all telling you they will only sell you two or nothing?

Just buy one, see how you like it and if a second one is necessary, buy it. If not, you're good to go. :scratchch

Sounds like we have similar tanks, I have 1 in my 90 gal mostly lps few softies and sps same amount of rock. My mp40 runs at half power which is plenty also depends on how the rock is set up. Call saltwater critters you will have it the next day and only have to buy 1 at a time

Just get 1 to start. You'll love it. But make sure u get the wireless one in case u want to add a second.

The MP40wES is only sold in the wireless version......unless you bought an old, discontinued MP40. I don't even know any retailers that have them in stock anymore.

1 mp40 is just fine for a 90 gal, i have one on my 90 and sps are growing quite well
