Well just found another "thing" in my tank.

I first saw it and thought that it was a piece of my blasto that was growing on the rock. It glows red under actinic. I had sort of like little tentacles.

A little while later i saw that it moved! And then i looked closer and i could see antenna coming from it.

Anyone help out? I took it out, the tentacle things broke off but it is alive moving around in a container.... Looks like some sort of slug.

Zoa eating nudis are usually the same color as the zoos they eat. Do you have any the same color as the nudi? I had zoa eating nudis and I never saw one as big as that one. I hope that isn't what you have they were a pain to get rid of!

the only thing that i have that has any color like it was, was the skirt of lunar eclipse, but they are up on a rack...

Now that I look at the pics more, it does not look good. I guess I will have to get a six line. Luckily, i am going to be getting a new tank soon. I really cant put any more fish in this one. But I will need to i guess!

I highly advise that you don't bother with the 6 line wrasse. They are a nasty fish and many, many folks who get them end up posting & asking how to get the fish OUT of their tanks as they are incredibly territorial and will attack just about any fish you add afterwards..and there is no guarantee they will eat the nudis...especially if you continue to feed the other fish....
also a zoa eating nudi can eat a huge number of zoas..like they are candy :(

That said...can you give us an approximate size the nudi was?

It looked to be a zoa eating nudi to me. They appear as the color of the last thing they were eating.
To get rid of them you need to dip your zoas - many use Lugols solution (diluted with water - about 6 drops to 1g water..swish the frag around around, then let the frag sit in the water for about 5 minutes, swish again vigorously and place back in tank. Some do it a couple of times over a couple of days).
If you have one adult one, pretty much guaranteed that you have others and EGGS (which no fish is going to eat). You need to scrape the eggs off or toss the particular polyp in the trash.

They are easiest to find at night, do look on your glass too.

it was probably about 1/4 of an inch... Crap. This really sucks! LOL

How fast will they eat?

Argh...1/4 inch is adult size :(

Quick enough that if you wait til you get a new tank, you may be zoa- less :(
..it depends on how many you might have in there...sorry, I seem to have nothing but depressing info for you... I lost about 40 frags to them before I found out what they were.

The Lugols dips are your best bet and it WILL kill what you find immediately, so there is hope :) Remember you have to scrape off the eggs, a dip will NOT kill those!

Do you have a lot of zoas?

Here are some pics of them and a shot of what they eggs look like.

Damn! Do they eat from the base? Do they eat other palys or just zoas? I have been looking around in the tank to see if i see any eggs. I dont have too many zoas, most are on plugs that I can take out. One is a larger rock.

I will have to go tomorrow and get the dip. will LFS have it?
