Automatic top off

Anybody recommend a good Automatic top off system for my sump.

get the dual float system. You just need to add a pump to it.

I just ordered mine and will be running with a 900 utility pump (high head)

I am on the market for this as well, thanks for posting the link in the open. The one's I have priced out are all over $100, these seem more reasonable.

It is a good device. But I went with autotopoff unit, because I wanted to have some security in the SUMP, so that if for some reason the float gets stuck the second float will turn off the pump. I will have an ENDLESS supply of RO top off water, so that was important. And the unit only cost $50 plus pump.

And the aqualifter may be ok, depending your head. Aqualifter is only good for 30 inches.. I am pumping out of brute pail, so i need the head.

The Reef Fanatic offers the same option "The first float switch sensor triggers the feed pump (sold separately) to maintain the desired water level. The second float switch sensor ensures dependability and offers overflow protection. Our water level controller can also be used to protect the pump from running dry." as well as shutting off the return pump should the sump run dry.

The RF can also control any style pump so head height is not an issue.

I tried posting the ato I am about to buy but it said a mod had to look at it first. I am buying a Tunze 3155 Osmolator Universal (Auto Top Off) *NEW* w / magnet fro brs when the group buy takes effect. I like it because it comes with everything you need and I Really like the electric eye.

Electronic eye maintains water level.
Secondary float switch for added safety.
Audible alarm if secondary switch is activated.
Multiple mounting brackets that will work on almost any tank or sump.
Adds slightly more water than is needed which stops small waves from turning the unit on or off continuously.

I will say it again I like the electric eye because you won't get build up on it and have your tank over fill.

Yes no build up on it of salt, but what about algae or anything else that can build up on it ???

I was never a fan of the electric eye, unless it mounts outside the sump and looks through (i have no idea)

+1 autotopoff.com dual sensor sump mount. best bang for the buck....love it...would still buy even if the price were double.

used jbj for years....works ok but if using the stock mounting brackets, without any modifications, the water level would drop an inch before it tops off. the autotopoff one is 1/8-1/4 of an inch in comparison.

the tunze is expensive, the pump's longevity is questionable, and the electric eye DOES FAIL.....not bullet proof as some would think.

So when ordering autotopoff you have to order Solenoids, pumps & tubing also and what size tubing do I need. No package deal which includes everthing.

You need to order the type that you want (controller with floats). Then you need a pump (every ato needs a pump and most do not come with one).

So you can get an aqualifter and the the tubing that is used for that pump. You just then plug the pump into the ATO controller. So you need to buy a pump and tubing separate....
