I am going to be replacing the bulbs on my 6 bulb unit soon. i see alot of people talking about a 14000k look or a 20000k look and was curious whats the differance? what do people prefer for their corals. I deff want a blue look in the tank. i have the white bulbs in thier now and i dont really like them i want to replace all my bulbs for pretty much all blue bulbs. which ones are the right ones to order? and will my coral growth still be good. i mainly have only lps and softies and will prob stay that way for awhile

yea that was what i was going to do get the ati bulbs aqua blue and aqua blue specials. mix a purple in thier as well. my unit lets me switch off 4 bulbs and keep 2 on to simulate dawn and dusk. right now i have 2 actinics should i get 2 new actinic bulbs and only 4 aqua blue bulbs. will that be enough for coral growth? cause i know the actinics do nothing for that.

i have a ati powermodule 8x54 i run 6 ati blue plus one fiji purple one ati aquablue i get 20k color but brighter then metal halides 20 k as i used run halide on my tank up to 8 monthe ago!!

You can move the bulb positions around to get slight changes in the look, but keep slot 1 & 6 blue+.

well i only have lps and softies right now, just toadstools, frog spawns, hammer, duncans. i wont have any sps at all, so do you think i should swith out the 2 bulbs i can keep on to actinics rather then the blue +

If u replace the bulbs, u might have to raise the light, then slowly lower it over a couple weeks.
Or, change a couple bulbs at a time to allow the corals to adjust.
Actinics would be wasting 2 slots in my opinion.

Mine were in shock when I changed bulbs. I didn't aclimate....but its been 2 months and everything is doin great.
Only my chalice and favia are upset.

i would us almost the same as mbg, but i would replace #2 with an aquablue special, i like al the ati bulbs but use the fiji purple from guisman.. thats how i had my 6 bulb tek light set up, i loved it.. have leds now but when i had t5s i swore by that layout
