I have the 40 breeder now and like the shallowness. The 80 has to be without a doubt the best pound pound dimensions out there.

But, i saw the rimless 75 over the weekend in jersey at a reefers house. It was breath taking. Liked the outside of the setup more than the inside. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad.

Just when you though you were safe.... a new option emerged....

I contacted deep blue to see if they would ever make the perfect tank, the 80g frag tank 48x24x16 with the pros of the 75 rimless which is rimless tank and low iron glass.

They answered and said they currently have no info on such tank but they do have a 48x24x12 rimless which is 60g.

75rimless? 80g wide? 60g wide rimless?

I dont know for the tank but am finding out. And that stand is not a deep blue. The deep blues are made with compressed wood and feel cheap.

Just heard that about the stands today...probably going with diy for a stand. But that tank...wow...I love the shallow look. I too am having a hard time deciding on which tank I want...so my build is on hold until I'm sure.

You could always do a custom tank w/ starfire with specs to your liking. Won't be cheap, but at least you'd be 110% satisfied w/ your build.

There is an 80 gallon rimless reef ready frag tank in operation at village aquarium in Carle Place.
If you want I can take a pic next time I'm there.
I agree with the DB stands having terrible access. Definitely look for a different stand.

Flytekk if you need a video or pictures of my setup let me know. I could have done a lot better on sump but I wanted to keep it extremely simple.

I personally went for the 80 for the 24" width, overflow is not OVERWHELMING, and though rimless is sexy the trim on this tank isn't overwhelming as well.

A few things you have to check is the heat of the inside of the stand since the back is enclosed and the overflow on mine hit the precut opening so I had to open it up a bit which isn't ideal since you expect something so simple would be checked for quality.

I got the 80, great dimensions. Saw the 60 rimless frag tank today, it is VERY short. The four little inches make a big difference. The 75 rimless is great, love mbg's. I just liked the dimensions and depth of the 80 more. The deep blue stand doesnt fit the reef ready tank though, you have to sand down the pre drilled holes in the stand to make it fit.

Shallow 80 gonna be the new hot tank to have.

+1 to TheSherm. The 60 is too low....a true frag tank as for the height. The 80@16H is perfect for shallow with a lot of width to utilize your rock work more and leave enough openings to still feel very open unlike a lot of tanks out there.

Deep Blue just told me that the 60 rimless is not low iron glass. Only the tanks with the "edge" name have the "opti clear" glass.

What is up with these guys, its like on tank is rimless, the other is perfect dimensions, the other is rimless and perfect but not low iron glass.... the stand is going to break, and none of the reef ready tanks fit on any of the stands?!?!

Agreed. Seems uncoordinated.
