Could not find a thread here on these Radion LED's by Ecotech. Any members here with comments. More specifically who owns these lights, and comments and comparsion to other LED's lights. Would like to know what you think about them. I'm seriously considering to purchase 2 units for a 4ft frag tank.

Appreciate your input!

I just bought two for my 4x2x2 Tech 120 tank. They are mounted and ready to go. I can't wait until the tank is finished. Another couple of weeks of wiring, and plumbing during my spare time. Looking forward to it.

there is a disccusiion here hopefully it helps some. you may have to sift through all the aqua illumination owners.

Is the frag tank going to be your display tank? if not that is some serious lighting to grow out some frags and you could go with something else.
Also have a look at this thread it blew me away.

Thanks for the link, will check them out! Your right too much for a frag tank, so I put them on my 125, and take the existing LED and put them on my frag tank.

Anyone have pictures of there Raidon in action!

From what I've seen, Radion owners throughout many forums are extremely pleased.

Just a side thought, Do you guys think that T5s are still better than Radions? Or are the Radions better in terms of coloration/growth? That's a question I've seen pop up numerous times

They ability to sit in front of your tank and add and remove 1 percent of one of the 5 colors is awesome considering many people fiddle with adding and removing t5 bulbs.

On a 4' frag tank 2 of radions will be MONSTERS! I have a 40breeder and one radion over it and it has enough spread to light the whole tank as long as i place it high. I wouldnt put it in a canopy only because of how thin and beautiful it looks. Hiding it would be a crime.

Im sure most of you are familiar with how regular orange and white clowns look black and white when actinics only are on. I thought this was cool cause i didnt have to buy a pair of onyx clowns as mine were orange by day and black by night.

Well with the radions even with actinics on, they can be orange, or even red depending on how much red light (and green if u like) you want to mix into the actinics. And ofcourse an hour or 2 later you can kill the reds and get those free black clowns again. :0)

Just a small example of how nice these lights are. Most people dont take into consideration how nice it is to change the appearence of their tank on the fly. I didnt before i bought them.

Also keep in mind that without using timers are dumb controllers with complicated unintuitive controls, you could setup a lighting schedule that changes every minute of every day. If you look at your tank once every minute you could see a completely different tank everytime. Although i wouldnt do this, it is posssible. This allows for 10-20-+++ diiferent lighting setting per day.

My roommate has 2 Radions on his 120. They are pretty impressice lights. To me where they let you down is the software. He can't set a good night time setting on them. One gets too bright, the other doesn't even turn on until it gets over 5%. The colors between the 2 aren't consistent either. 5% on one isn't the same on the other. Like I said, awesome lights but I don't think that they're as well supported by the software as they should be.

He must not know what he is doing. The software gives you TOO MANY options in regards to light. What he has messed up is the Night/Day settings of the scheduler. If you put it in Day (even when the tank is on low light), you get 100% control of every color. If you have the change point set in the Night area of the schedule, the options are much more limited as the max is only 20%. IMO they don't need this as most people get annoyed by that quickly, but the presets in Night are pretty cool too.

Basically you should have him put all of the points into the Day section of the schedule and control them there versus using the night options.
