I've been using it in my 14 gal biocube. Even with water changes I had nitrates of 10 and phosphates on the second color level on the API test kit. After using elite for about a month, my nitrates and phosphates are undetectable.

I used to use CPE as a cost effective GFO and carbon media for my TLF reactor considering Phosban costs twice what CPE costs.
Now I use bulk GFO and GAC from two separate containers.
I have no idea what the little sugary stuff in CPE does but I don't notice any difference without it.

The manufacturer's claims for this product are utter nonsense. See below. No offense, but I don't understand how anyone can use this stuff, given the insane claims:

• CONSTANT pH - Always within the safe range
• NO OSMOTIC SHOCK - 90% eliminated

Since I started this thread which was a couple of years ago, till today I have been using CPE and with great results. I highly recommend it to anyone running small tanks 50 gallons or smaller.

I use one unit of Chem Pure Elite in my biocube 29 and it keeps my water in check.
