I've got a couple little "things' popping up in my tank. I'm concerned they might be aiptasia, but they look more like baby rics. The polyps are much shorter and stubbier. They're basically lite brown. Not colored like the couple rics i have in tank.

There's maybe 4 of them. Biggest is about 1/3rd the size of a dime.

Will try and get wife to post some pics. But thought someone might know if aiptasia start life looking "short and stubby'.

if it looks like this... you're going to have a problem.

Unfortunately likely not rics..especially if they are brown in color. If they were rics they would be growing right along side other rics and be the same colors.
Since they are popping up in different place, they are probably aiptasia or majano's, but do post a pic so we can confirm for you.

What is that? I have one that I saw grow out from nowhere on the rocks over a 1 years since I got from someone. It looked like a reddish zoa that morphed into that green thing just recently.

THAT is a majano..you want to make it go away - as fast as possible. They multiply like bunnies :(

I just squirted some boiling water on it, hopefully that will take care of it.

I'm not sure what conditions it needs to thrive but it took a year for that thing to appear and morph to a smaller version of that. I thought it was a small zoa.

I just got my tank parameters stable too.
