This is what i use to transport my frags and thought i should share this. Very simple to make and pretty cheap, cost me less then 5 bucks to make.

Share you thought or show what you use to transport. I hate having my frags rolling around a bag or container...

What you should try to find is some sort of rubber washer or grommet that will fit snugly around the base of the plug. So take out your tray and out your frags on it then the rubber washers on the bottom to hold them in place. Especially if you plan on doing taller frags so they don't fall over. I actually did something similar in the past. But yours is very neat!!"

That's a good idea... Def for Sps frags. I used it yesterday and every frag was in place when I got to my destination. But I drive so the movement isn't so bad but if you using public transportation I would recommend adding the rubber washers for more support. When I go to homedepot I will see if I find one that would word.

I have done that in the past. But for multiple fags might be a pain. And then the frag will float in the water. I really like the OP's idea. I am going to find something to make also. :)

I put, and have others put all frags into individual bags.:) With the container idea I would worry about them falling out of their little designated spot, and touching each other, Especially when transporting different species. I know use the washer as already stated. But then I would still worry about the noxious slimming in the small container with different species.

They do sell other containers that have partitions but my idea was just for zoas. I container with partitions are air tight and could hold water very well and u don't meet to worry about individual bags and stuff plus u will end up using less plastic bags. It's a reusable took I am going to keep one in my car.

I will make one sometime next week that will suit those needs. I will post it here too.

pshhh... and all I got from you was a small chinese chicken soup container... :screama:

That reminds me I still need that back... Lol

Update

So i was not able to find a good container that had partitions for other corals beside zoas so i came up with this idea. It has two levels and the top level comes of so you can use it as needed.

Now the zoas will go on the bottom and the sps/lps will go on the top. In order to hold them in place i am going to be using something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HE7YQM/?tag=reefs04-20

I will cut it in small pieces and fit it on each side, enough to create a tight fit for plugs. I hope this will be able to hold it in place so that nothing falls over or touches each other. I will update that part when i purchase the rubber weather sealer from Homedepot. This is not the exact on i will be using but something very similar.

D... if you wanted to keep it even simpler... Silicone in between the squares. It will create enough friction to hold frag plugs in place.

This way you can be rest assured that you will have a product that can easily be safe to coral.

But then again... What do I know.

I was thinking the same but figured the weather strip would create a tighter fit compared to silicone. But you know what i have some here and i will try it now and see how it works tomorrow.

Besides thats would give it a cleaner look... And i like cleaner looks.

I'm a little confused and that could do more bad than good. Like for instance let's say you are traveling picking up stuff from different people.. everyone's water is different so you would be putting things from let's say 3 tanks together in water different than they came from and depending on how long between your destinations and home the water will be different temperature at different times. It sounds like you can definitely shock corals without realizing. If you were going to transport your own frags that's ok if they are going into 1 person's tank because then you could use your water then float them in a bag or something but if it's going to multiple tanks then they wouldn't have much water to use to float.

This is only for when i go and purchase a coral or pick up a coral from some one. This is not for picking up coral from different members and putting them in one container.

Let me put it like this... Lets say you go to a vendor and say "i want this this and this..." They are all most likely in one frag tank and all in the same water. Instead of using 3 different bags i will just use one container... Put it in my cooler and off home i go.

Its basically for transporting but if i do happen to stop by another vendor/member to pick up another two to three pieces i will use the second container. Hence the last pic showing two containers in a cooler.

Its just good to keep so that we dont have to constantly use bags all the time we buy. More like what supermarkets are doing by providing an alternative to plastic bags; They sell these "green bags" that you can reuse.
