Some say yes, some say only a few days a month. Wondering who actually runs carbon and Gfo 24/7.

I run both 24/7. GFO to keep my phosphates down. I feel carbon helps with a mixed reef. Reduces chemical warfare complications.

Someone said to me lps will get messed up if I run carbon 24/7. Not true?

I replace the pouch when it turns dark brown.
Usually in about 3 months.

does anyone know how often you should change out your GFO? It was tumbling when i first put it in but after a week the GFO seems to stop tumbling? does it mean its time to change it out?

my tank is completely lps and i run carbon/gfo 24/7...on my package for two little fishies gfo, it clearly states that you DO NOT want the gfo to tumble because it breaks it up into fine particules and loses its ability to absorb. My gfo does not move at all in the canister...my 2 cents

I have been running both GFO & Carbon since the start over 4 yrs now and I mostly keep Lps and softies and they are always doing well.
